Local Student Receives Statewide Scholarship

May 15, 2012 (Cody-Kilgore, Neb.) - A Cody-Kilgore student recently received a nationwide scholarship aimed at supporting students who are pursuing education in rural education, rural development or telecommunications.
Cody resident Anlan Cheney was recently awarded a $1000 scholarship from the Foundation for Rural Education Development. Great Plains Communications served as her official sponsorship scholar. Cheny Cheney intends to pursue a Juris Doctorate degree and is part of a growing trend of students looking to minimize educational debt through the use of many scholarships and grants.
Great Plains Communications is a strong supporter of educational efforts in the communities it serves. The company provides up to $20,000 worth of educational scholarships to students annually. The company's “Commitment to Our Schools” grant program provides $20,000 to schools to provide additional funding for special projects and initiatives.
