ATTENTION: Great Plains Communications Customers Experiencing Problems with Incoming Long Distance or Cellular Calls

Many Great Plains Communications customers continue to have problems receiving incoming Long Distance or Cellular calls on their Great Plains Communications local number. Great Plains Communications personnel have been working with customers and regulators for many months to address the issues. These problems are not caused by Great Plains Communications network, but rather by the manner in which some calls are being routed by the originating carrier. Problems that customers are experiencing include calls that result in any of the following:

  • poor quality
  • do not complete at all
  • go to a recording
  • goes to fast busy
  • ring and then disconnect
  • send bogus caller ID information

For Great Plains Communications customers, in order to address the problems, please advise the person making the call to you to call his/her provider (either Long Distance or Cellular company). The customer originating the call should ask that Long Distance or Cellular provider to trace the call and advise that the problem is not with Great Plains’ local network. If the originating provider thinks it’s a Great Plains Communications Network issue, the Originating Provider can contact Great Plains Communications. Customers who are dissatisfied with the response of the originating company or that want Great Plains Communications to provide assistance may continue to contact Great Plains Communications customer service, 1-855-853-1483.

If after contacting the originating carrier who has not corrected the routing issues, customers can file a complaint on the provider with the Nebraska Public Service Commission, 1-800-526-0017 or www.psc.nebraska.gov or whatever state the originating phone resides in. Every state has a Public Service Commission. It might not be called that, but can be found in the front of the local phone book.
