We are very excited to announce that Gordon-Rushville elementary school has won a $5,000 grant that will allow the school to upgrade education technology!

The school will use the funds to purchase a new Promethean board for the Kindergarten classroom.  It is an interactive whiteboard system that enhances school curricula and allows teachers to use additional multi-media in lectures.

The grant was awarded by the Foundation for Rural Education Development (FRED), which is supported by the Organization for the Promotion and Advancement of Small Telecommunications Companies (OPASTCO).  Great Plains Communications served as the sponsor for the school, which included writing a recommendation letter on the school’s behalf.

In addition to serving as a sponsor for national awards such as this, we also provide nearly $40,000 a year in grants and scholarships directly to our communities.  If you are a student looking for help for college or a school with a great idea that needs funding, visit our website and apply before March 1st!
