Great Plains Communications Scholarships & Grants

As part of our commitment to empowering and improving education in the communities we serve, Great Plains Communications offers several scholarship options for our graduating high school seniors. We also offer annual grant opportunities for educators to improve curriculum and offer new programs in their classrooms.

Great Plains Communications Scholarship

Are you a graduating senior and a customer of Great Plains Communications? If so, you are eligible to apply for the Great Plains Communications Scholarship! We grant up to ten, $1,000.00 scholarships statewide before the end of each school year. Scholarships are awarded on a one-time basis and are not renewable.

Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship Fund

The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) is an affiliate of the National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA), which is an organization of independent telephone companies across the United States. Graduating high school seniors who maintain grade point average of C or above and have an interest in returning to a rural community after graduation are encouraged to apply. FRS Scholarship applications must receive a signature of sponsorship from Great Plains Communications in order to apply.

To apply, visit your school’s guidance counselor for FRS application materials or simply visit the FRS website https://www.frs.org/ to download relevant scholarship application documents. Completed applications must be submitted to Great Plains Communications at the address below by February 23.

Great Plains Communications Grants Program

Each year, a total of $20,000.00 is awarded to schools in Great Plains Communications service areas to improve the educational process for students and provide resources to add challenging new units or projects into the curriculum. Grants are awarded in the spring for use during the following school year.

A maximum of $5,000.00 per district is imposed.
